The population of ps2 gamers that usually buy sports games is around 60%, but increasing. The most popular of the sports games is Madden NFL Football, which has been the leader since it came out in '97. Most people I ask about sports games say madden is the best, I would agree, but that is pretty much the only sports game I buy. The reason numbers are increasing in sales for sports games is the up-dated technology and overal gameplay. Sports like baseball and basketball are dying in my opinion, but football keeps increasing in popularity. Another reason sports games sales are increasing is the online play, which i think is best with sports games. I don't even want to talk about NASCAR, Tennis,Golf or any of that stuff, it's just terrible. Imagine in NASCAR holding the x and < button while you drive in circles for about 2-3 hours,PAINFULL. Hockey is a sport that is on the horizon of becoming the second most popular sport in the U.S.
