> AI and game worlds could reach levels previously unheard
> of.
Well actually it's pretty much fact simply because of the leap in hardware for both consoles.
News monkey ain't what he was. Maybe age is slowing him down?
Incidentally, there's another story doing the rounds at the moment, originating from EA. Apparently, the Cell is way faster then nVidia's RSX graphics chip. It's processing (with just 3 of the SPE's - of which there are 7) data and shunting it to the RSX as quick as the RSX can deal with it, meaning that there's ample time for it (the Cell) to be doing other things... i.e. AI and other stuff.
As far as I understood it, this is occurring on the alpha or beta dev kits, so isn't indicative of the final setup.
Still, it's potentially a good thing. From what we've seen in the demos, if PS3 can churn out those graphics "in its sleep", so to speak, AI and game worlds could reach levels previously unheard of. Those demos - pre-rendered or not - could well be acheivable.
But as I say... it's rumour based on early devkits.
