If you can't use Network Update on your PSP, you can download version 2.5 from my site. I've just obtained it installed it myself.

Unzip the EBOOT.PBP file and copy it to your PSP's Memory Stick. The correct location is the PSP/GAME/UPDATE/ folder.
Make sure your PSP battery is charged, connect the mains adapter, switch on and go to the GAME menu. Scroll down to 'Memory Stick' and press the X button; select the 'PSP update ver 2.50' file and press the X button to begin the update.
Nothing much due to the downgrade and whatnot.
