Apparently, version 2.5 of the PSP firmware is available via the Network Update feature.

EDIT:

If you can't use Network Update on your PSP, you can download version 2.5 from my site. I've just obtained it installed it myself.

http://paranoimia.co.uk/downloads/PSP/PSP-v250.zip to download. (Approximately 17MB)

Unzip the EBOOT.PBP file and copy it to your PSP's Memory Stick. The correct location is the PSP/GAME/UPDATE/ folder.

Make sure your PSP battery is charged, connect the mains adapter, switch on and go to the GAME menu. Scroll down to 'Memory Stick' and press the X button; select the 'PSP update ver 2.50' file and press the X button to begin the update.

If you didn't trust my download, you can now get it officially at www.yourpsp.com - http://www.yourpsp.com/psp/psp.html#locale=en_gb&id=system_software_overview§ion=support_basics_detail

Something about region free copyrighted videos capability or some bollocko.

Nothing much due to the downgrade and whatnot.
