I just cannot get through ANY of the temple doors at Ruh-Arok Temple, to get Great Turtle, White Tiger, Golden Pheonix etc.

Ah so you did read my help guide.
You need to have 20 of 1 type of element in your deck at the time of talking to the door, then you will have access to the temples. You cannot just take 2 of the same creature, it must be 20 different Earth (example) cards.
This will mean that you will have to evolve certain creatures to get what you need since there are only 23 of each type available.
