A bit of confusion here...

I ordered DoA2 and Madden NFL 2001 last Thursday, 14th December. Currently, SR's order tracking service gives me the following result...

Processed - Item Description - Information

14/12/2000 - DEAD OR ALIVE 2 - ITEM BACK ORDERED

14/12/2000 - MADDEN NFL 2001 - ITEM BACK ORDERED

Checking PS2 software listings gives me this...

Madden NFL 2001 - Release: 15/12 - Stock: Yes
Dead or Alive 2 - Release: 1/1 - Stock: NR (Not Released)

Madden has shown as 'in stock' since I placed the order last Thursday, so is the stock listing working? Especially as it's apparently updated twice a day.

DoA2 was released last Friday, so why do SR have a 1st January release date?

The purpose of this posting is not to complain, as I'm fairly happy to wait for the games. However, it is frustrating when there is no obviously apparent reason for the delay, and I could have picked both titles up on Saturday.

Many thanks, No10!

Wookie Monster :

On days when a significant volume of backorders are despatch there is sometimes delay in the updating of records. We have a policy of updating the order status after the goods have been despatch - to avoid giving any incorrect information.

When we have a mass of backorders being despatched which is often the case for new releases it can take a while for all the records to be updated. We are planning a number of system changes in the new year which will involve improvements to the order tracking system.

I bought DOA2 on the 15th. I couldn't find it in Game or HMV etc., but walked a bit further to a small, specialist retailer and they had it on the shelves. It cost me 39 quid. They had more copies available.... It's located down The Broadway, Wimbledon (Incase people are desperate to find a copy!!).

Okay, useful tip #101...

Pay no attention to SR's order tracking service! It still shows Madden as back-ordered, but I've just phoned home and it arrived in the post this morning!

Ho hum... these new-fangled computerised systems, eh? ;-p

That's what I thought, but I saw it in my local Game store on Saturday - and it didn't say anything about "available soon" or anything like that; it actually had a price tag on it.

I didn't buy it then because I have it on order with SR. Maybe I'll phone Game later to check.

Has somebody actually bought a copy? If so this would sort out a lot of problems.

I had pre-ordered DOA2, but decided that I wouldn`t bother getting it because I already have TTT. It may be different, and perhaps better, but one fighter is enough for me, so I didn`t check to see if it was released.

I dont want DoA2 as I got it for the Dreamcast. People say DoA2 is better than TTT it might be but I got the DC version and I am not shelling out 37 quid for the enhanced PS2 version when DoA2 isnt one of my favourite beat em ups.

Point taken, humpo, but with respect, this is a little bit different.

This isn't about the availability of official peripherals, which is most certainly down to Sony; this is more about a possible 'internal' problem at SR.

As far as I'm aware, there's no shortage of software. SR's web site says they have stock of Madden, yet it is on back-order; *maybe* this means that they only have enough stock to cover orders placed before mine, which is fair enough.

More alarming is the fact that they seem convinced that DoA2 is not released until 1st January, when it's actually in shops now; I think it DoA2 rates among PS2 owners 'most-wanted' titles, and that could result in significant lost sales for SR.

I had a voucher from EB in the post this morning for £10 off any purchase over £19.99. While I am (usually) prepared to wait, I must admit I am tempted to cancel my order and pick these games up at EB so that I'm guaranteed to have them over the Xmas period, which otherwise may not be the case, due to delays with the Xmas post etc.
