I have 1024mb of SDRAM and an ATI Radeon 8500LE, my games all run great but i'm thinking of getting DDR RAM as my motherboard can take both SDR and DDR, if i got around 384mb DDR or maybe 512mb would it improve my games much - in 3d mark i get 7229 but i see machines with ddr geting over 8000 so is that down to DDR or the slightly faster processor ie. Athlon 2000+ vs 1700+ or both.
Keep the memory you've got. If the board is not streamlined to take one specific type of memory, then it's not going to be spectacularly rapid with either. Having said that, your 3D mark is pretty good, although I get 8200-odd from an Athlon XP1800 with 256MB PC2700 memory and a Radeon 8500 all strapped to a pretty decent ABIT motherboard.
If you want your PC to go faster, don't waste your money on memory upgrades, just replace the whole kaboodle when you need to.

Well, it should, On CPU-intensive games the CPU needs a lot data from the RAM, with DDR it should double the access rate, increasing its performance. Not sure how it would help your 3DM score though, it's such a crap benchmark.
