I hate learning from a book. Tehre isn't as much interactivity as learning on the computer.

Xsorbit is good for a startee, but I know Alex has already tried xsorbit and didn't turn out too well. Ikonboard I have tried myself, and personally don't like it. I don't think there are enough decent things on it, so try http://phpbb.com or http://invisionboard.com

You need to tinker with some cgi scripts, but it's all explained in the instructions.

I use it for my forums, and I know nothing about cgi programming... it just takes some common sense, and an ability to follow instructions.

But will alex have the time to sit down and perfect everything just by learning from a book?

It takes a long time and it sounds as if Alex wants to do it fairly quickly...

Anyway Alex you need a better host as PHP isn't supported on Freeserve...

It's a bit harder than reading it from a book!

Plus Freeserve don't allow PHP or any of that stuff on their servers and Frontpage doesn't let you use it either!

Just get one from bravenet and save yourself the hassle!

From what I know of you, you'll have no chance getting a message board working if you tried to code it yourself!

Try www.bravenet.com

Got it there...

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Brilliant service.
Love it, love it, love it!
Christopher
