Hi Hmmm

Sorry you're right I made a typo I could send but not receive.

However, having tried and succeeded in sending and receiving with 3G off an using wi-fi, I have returned to 3G settings with wi-fi off and find I can send and receive emails?????? Success but I have no idea how or why? Plan not to play with any of the settings and hope it keeps working.

Thanks for your help - really appreciated.

Hi,
That's different that you previous post - where you mentioned you 'could' send email!?

In my first post I wrote:

What address do you have for your out-going server?

Thanks for your help.. I think I've determined the root of problem having contact freeola support. They said:

We have many customers who are able to receive their e-mail, however we are not sure if the 3G networks that the phones use are able to access our servers. This would likely be due to restrictions or limitations of the 3G service it self.

I can send and receive using wi-fi but can only receive on 3G. I'm going to see Apple in store technical over weekend to see if they can help.

If you check/use the internet first, and then check your email do you still get the error?

I can send mail but when I open the inbox I get the error message: 'The connection to the server 'mail.freeola.net' failed'
I've triple checked that my incoming mail server is mail.freeola.net and my user name and password is correct..

Perhaps you could say where you are getting stuck or what errors you are receiving?
NB. My son has an iPod Touch so internet access is through WiFi(Freeola) so things will be slightly different to your internet access.

I'm guessing you will need 'email freedom' to be able to send emails depending on how you are doing things.

Setting up a GMail account works well and is easy. You could always forward your Freeola mail to GMail and go from there.
