Yeah - a few years ago there was a man on TV saying "At Top of the Pops we allow no miming". Yet clearly they do now. Viewers can consider themselves lucky if they get one non-mimed act a week. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd rather have a live show that wasn't the band's best to a mimed one.

I can see exactly why they do it, but I still don't agree with it. I can't understand the mentality of someone who would rather watch what is basically a dance show than a live singing show - you pay money for the music, so that's what you should get live, right? Not a bunch of dancing loons. And they actually give that as an excuse for miming. If the dancing means you can't sing live then there's an easy solution - don't dance.
It seems that they want a show rather than the music itself, they are more interested in the bands 'performing' rather than singing, hence all the miming.
Still, when you hear how bad Ian Van Dahl is live, you can perhaps sympathise with at least some of their decisions...
And Jennifer Lopez has just been on, with a bit in her song that goes "Ding! Ding, ding ding!". It's so 1991.
