If I knew how I felt all the time
I wouldn’t be writing this jaded rhyme
I wouldn’t be crying on the wake of a sin
I wouldn’t be hiding from the pains still within
I'd accomplish all I had set out to do
I could sail my way right through you
I could help those who had still yet to find
I could gain my peace for being so kind
I would think a thousand miles a day
I could give up on this Passion play
I'd pave the path and set the way
I could do exactly what you’d say
If I knew why I found it tough
I'd open doors and smooth down rough
I'd cream the cake and ice the milk
I'd grip the sun and tear the silk
I'd reach my heart and walk like stone
I'd find your eyes and see a home
If I could hide from all that’s wrong
If I could learn to sing a song
If I could close the door on you
Then I would be without a clue
If I were creatively inclined
Then perhaps there’d be some more to find
If I made things to make me proud
What would calm a voice so loud?
If I made worlds in which to dance
Could I escape into your glance?
If I hadn't lied so much
If I hadn't ate my lunch
If I hadn't seen the moon
If I hadn't licked the spoon
If I hadn't been with you
If I hadn't sold the few
If I hadn't taught myself
If I hadn't found the shelf
If I wasn't watching you
I'll have nothing else I'd rather do
I'm so happy to have met your Queen
And I'm so glad you've tried to seen
And if you'd taken your hand off to me
I wonder if I'd find the sea?
If you'd kept me at your bay
If you'd made your bunker stay
If you'd find another fish
If you'd tip me off your dish
I'm a sinking drinking time
You're a walking talking rhyme
If I could wear you like a sash
Then perhaps my shirt and shorts won't clash
That's the beat to end the song
But perhaps I'd better use a gong.

But locked away it's sure to pine?
