I also think Joe Cole and Dyer are both overated.
I also think Joe Cole and Dyer are both overated.
David Thompson's come a very-long way from his days with Liverpool. Liverpool fans always had a lot to say about him then, but I just never saw it. The same applies to his days at Coventry too. But it seems that Graeme Souness has really brought the best out of him as he's made his way into the England squad. How long will it last though?
Joe Cole is one of those youngsters who has a great immediate impact as an unknown teenager, but then begins to fade-quickly. He's still a great player with more potential to unlock, but he just isn't showing himself at West Ham anymore. Perhaps it's time to move-on?
And Dyer has been too-unfortunate with injuries and the like. But we already know what he's like, and that's why some of us were desperate to see him play during the World Cup.
Put Macca in any shirt other than an england one, and he's great. As soon as he dons the national colours, he can't pass, dribble or shoot for love or money.
Same goes for young Cole.
Dyer, while some say he's a great player, spends too much time injured to be useful to anyone. Great players don't spend half their career on the physio table.
Shame that.. Hopefully he will be able to adjust though as I think England could really benefit from having him in the team in the future.
Thomas Graveson and Lee Carsley may not have the skill and flair that Cole and Thompson have but for pure heart and determination have lead Everton to strength to Strength.
£10 million from the then Combined Counties Ashford Town to the Division 2 Wycombe. Not bad for a then 17 year old snapped up by John Gregory!
