Last week, as Seraphim, Borat, Machie & a few others may know was an awful week for myself and my family.
We attended a 40th wedding anniversary party of my great Uncle's, knowing it could be one of his last party's due to his cancer. It was quite emotional, both happy and sad, but kind of put a few things in perspective.
On the Wednesday that followed, he went in for his scan results to see if the cancer had spread. Unfortunately it has and is now eating him away from the inside. He has been given a few months to live. This had been expected in our hard of hearts, but still came as a shock.
I had just started my job as an stock assistant in Argos, which did take my mind off the cancer problem. Anyway, this new job involves heavy lifting, something I'm not quite built for, so by Friday my body was aching and didn't fancy doing much. I had arranged a night out at our local with my mates, but as I was leaving they called and cancelled to go to the Sodbury MOP Fair (a biannual travelling fairground). Of course, I didn't fancy having my aching body thrown about by some machine, so I didn't go, although we arranged to meet up Saturday.
Saturday. Rovers home to Walsall. Stood in bar with my other uncle (the son of the one with cancer) and bought him a few drinks. I had to remain strong for him as he's taking this really hard (to be expected really...). Just hoped Rovers would win. We were 2-0 down at half time. pulled one back on the 92nd minute. Escaped before the protests for the chairman's head got too bad.
Went home, friends cancelled on me once more - again, just as I was leaving to go and meet them. I just needed someone away from my family to talk to and get things off my chest, obviously why I picked such good friends as the ones I was meant to be going out with - Stayed in for the rest of the weekend.
And that leads me to today - where the test I failed was my driving test. 4 minors. But as I was saying, t'was to be expected going the way life has.
I'm sure it'll pick up soon. The only way is up.
Any of you have a bad week last week? Or any week? Or has this one started to go wrong already?
Well, good job I bout a 24 pack of Carlsberg this week - tonight could be fun after all! @)
> mates cancelled on me again
Hmmmmm your damn friends! Pfffft!
Managers... what do they know? Thanks for the comments though :)
Stuff like this really sucks and it's made even more frustrating because there's nothing that can be done and it just has to be ridden out.
Thoughts go out to you, your family and especially your Great Uncle. Take care bud.
Spent yesterday filming with mates - at least we have the "exorcist ala la bamba" sketch sorted - so hopefully it'll be online soon...
Last night, football - 1-0 down due to a penalty, but equalised and went 2-1 up in one minute! We won.
So maybe things are starting to look up a little...
We have an annual mop fair, they'll be here soon, perhaps they're the same.
Last week and this week seem to have gone fine so far. I guess I'm excited about a few things, like my trip two weeks from tomorrow.
Hope things pick up for you hippy.
CM I don't know how you cope with working at that place. I would have left long ago.
Now I want to kill him.
