Just got the Jurassic Park/Lost World DVD box set. Watched it from my Playstation 2 and it played perfectly well and really looked quite impressive in widescreen.
There are more than enough features included: Original trailors, deleted scenes, behind the scenes, the making of (Both JP and TLW) documentries, character profiles, star profiles, interviews with the cast, Dinosaur histories, storyboards.....
The films, though perhaps not the best ever made, are great and more than watchable. The first one is especially good. Groundbreaking in its day it still manages to keep you on the edge of your seat and interested. The story is great, the effects are mind blowing and this is definately one to watch over and over again.
The sequel was a bit of a let down. After watching it through again it seems to lose the plot completley. This is a prime example of Hollywood blockbusters going for effects more than story lines. Some bits are quite good but most of it is ruined by over the top moves, effects, cheesy one liners and impossible situations, then again it is just a film!!
Overall these make a great box set and the first film is worth getting it alone. The Lost World is alright but not one to be watched over and over. The extras add to the quality and there are some very interesting bits included. The only disapointment being the useless Jurassic Park III trailor, which was nothing more than just a split second scene of the jungle??
If I had to rate these films I would give Jurassic Park: 8/10 and The Lost World: 6/10.
But overall the box set is worth a cool 7/10!!!
