I have discovered (although by existing bands we've talked about here before) 2 albums containing some of the mightiest rock tunes of 2002.

1 - Clutch "Live at The Googolplex"
Clutch live, obviously. They're a live band much more than a studio band, that's where they come into their own.
Track listing (for Clutch fans to get a taste of the ROCK contained within)

Who Wants To Rock?
Pure Rock Fury
Sea of Destruction
Immortal
Careful with That Mic
Impetus
El Jefe Speaks
Rock and Roll Outlaw
12 Ounce Epilogue
Big News I
Big News II
Brazenhead
The Soapmakers
--

And the other one is the self-titled album by Audioslave.
The band that's Rage Against The Machine with Chris Cornell instead of angry-Mexican Zach De La Rocha.
I heard the demos courtesy of mr_happy, and didnt really like it -too many weak songs that didn't ROCK.
But those have been, for the most part, jettisoned and the rest of the stuff is absolute rock heaviness.

Recommended highly.
Although the Clutch one is only available through mail-order from The States.

I thought they were ok, from what I remember (It was a while ago now, and I swear I got concussion from a crowd surfer during the Therapy? set), but I had half expected them to have slid into nothingness by now.

Shows what little I know, I guess!

That's the one.

Neil Fallon - the singer that looks waay too much like Banky from Chasing Amy

Ah, Rusty Cage...

Are Clutch the band who's singer has a beard and looks a bit like a hillbilly/farmer type? I saw *a* band called "Clutch" support Therapy? a few years back. Don't know if they are the same act.

Much more Rage than Soundgarden.
The demos were alright, but I only thought about 4 of those truly ROCKED.
Out of the 14 tracks on the album, there are 3 that don't have Morello "wikky-wikky-wee-wee" style guitars and Cornell screams himself red over most of the songs.
It's Rage Against The Machine with old-style, "Rusty Cage" era Cornell lung-busting.

I hesitated but bought it on a whim, very glad I did

Not sure whether to buy that Audioslave album. Is it more RATM than Soundgarden? Because that's what the Civilian demos sounded like, not enough guitar filth and screaming in there.

*hovers finger over buy button until Goaty says it's okay*
