Here we go again. Has three months flashed by already? Let me have a stab at what will happen over the next fortnight:
*screen goes all wibbly in a In-A-Dream type sequence thing*
There will be loads of threads started by people I've never heard of, with titles like "Vote for me". There may be some variation in this, such as using CAPITALS or lots of !!!!!!!!! to try and get your attention.
Some regulars may well get annoyed with some Notables. Well, he has done for the last two elections so I don't expect anything to change...
The day of the election will come. There will be loads of UNOFFICIAL RESULTS!!!! threads, normally started by Shaneo. Although, to be fair, I did one once 'cos I was really bored at work.
There will be accussations for tactical voting, vote rigging (that came from Snuggly once, and he should know). There will also be people who vote "one of theirs" in. I.e someone who posts on "Their Forum". I'm still not sure quite why this happens, to be honest...
Someone will vote at 12:01 and complain that SR's clock is fast and will beg for their vote to count. Wookiee :-)
Sometime the next morning, the staff will announce the results, probably after they have finished their Office Chair Race Championship. I believe Loki is favourite this time around. 6 to 1, not bad odds...
Then the vote rigging shouts will be the loudest. Someone may well turn down the chance to be notable, despite the fact that they won. There may be a couple of threads asking "Who'll win next time then?".
And then everything will go back to normal.
And that's the whole point. Nothing will have changed. We'll have 2 1/2 months before the whole thing starts again. Actually, I was wrong when I said nothing will have changed. One, or maybe two, posters will have their name change to a kind of "Need to drink more water" urine yellow type colour.
The new notable won't have any extra powers. Will not be able to ban people, or award GAD's, and certainly won't become "Staff favourites".
The whole vote is a bit of fun, but is slightly serious at the same time.
It's you chance to show your appriciation for one member of this board. You may well vote for your mate, because he'll vote for you back. But that's a bit of a waste of time.
You should vote for someone who makes this forum a special place. A person who's posts you'll always read first, even if the thread is half way down the list.
That may mean it could be some one serious, who talks about politics and religion. Or someone who talks about films, or music, or games. Or someone who makes funny things on their website that make you laugh. All of those people are worthy of your vote.
For me, the list includes (and I just KNOW I'm going to miss someone out...): Slaveunit, Monkey_man, Insane Bartender (or whatever name he uses now), Doughnut Monster, Savat78 (or whatever his number is :-)) SSXPRO, RM18 and probably some others that I've forgotten.
Sorry this is so long, and thanks for reading :-)

I think Edgy is the only Notable who posts like a regular (no offense if you thought i was implying something). I have no real reason for saying this, just an observation. I'll go back to my Pantera musak now! \m/
:-p
And Snuggly, add "Cockface" to the swear filter thing, 'cos I really can't resist the urge to type it AND get away with it.
Some people seem to think they now "look down" on regulars and newbies, but we don't.
We write the same, perhaps some people just read it differently once someone has been voted in.

I think they do.....but whether this is good or bad remains to be seen. When newbies or recently-regulars (or even regular regulars, in some cases) want to ingratiate themselves with everybody they tend to agree with the notables a lot. I want to use the phrase "suck up", but I won't. No one starts a flaming argument with the notables just because they have a different opinion, which is nice.

Well......over time maybe.
