.... I did a really big poo, and now I feel hungry. Coincedence? Or could it be that everything has moved that bit further on down the digestive train, leaving space in my stomach, making me feel hungry?

Or is hunger not felt by how empty or full our actual stomachs are, but by other things?

I don't think that can be connected to 'an empty digestive tract'. It's more to do with the taste buds salivating at the smell from the food - and/or the brain getting info to then suggest 'food' to your taste buds - put very simply:)

I do. But I wondered if it meant that everything else could move further along the chain, making a bit more space in the stomach, thus initiating hunger.

I don't know how it all works, but I do know that people can go from not hungry at all to feeling very hungry in a few minutes, by just talking about, or smelling food.

One would suggest that the thoughts were not in his 'mind' - perhaps driven by a more immediate need:)

I think this post is quite equal to the epic crap drivel that Grix posted and deserves a GAD too. :)

I'm sure YH thought long and hard before rambling the thoughts in his mind and it took courage to post such personal details.

I wasn't aware that bowel movements had anything to do with the contents of your stomach. True it begins life there, but it's your digestive tract etc that produces/contains the 'stools' sometime after digestion has taken place in the stomach. An empty stomach can still mean a full bowel and not necessarily indicate hunger. If you see what I mean:)
