Yes, there are many talks about there being a PS3 in development.
But, this really annoys me for some reason, I think it's becasue I haven't even got my ps2 and they are all ready thinking about ps3!!

I heard talk of PS3 ages ago, months before I got my PS2. Some reports were saying it could be up to 10 times as powerful as PS2. This shouldnt effect the PS2 for at least five, six years - The same time it took for PSOne to get to PS2. There is nothing to fear.
PS3 sounds good, but also distant. I`m just going to enjoy the PS2 for the next 5 or 6 years!

The fact that Sony registered PS3 as a trade mark ages ago got tongues wagging.
The point is that it doesn't matter whether the pS3 is in development or not (I'm sure it is!), because it won't be even considered for release for another 5 years or so...
Enjoy your Ps2 safe in the knowledge that it will still be cutting-edge for the next 5 years......

Cutting edge it will be, and there won`t be any real threats around to the PS2 until the PS3!
MAYBE Ps3 could be an add on to the Ps2..but I doubt it.
I think there are already enough add ons scheduled for the PS2, so a PS3 would probably have to be a new console. This is also suggestes by the name of course, otherwise it would be hard to tell when a PS2 ceases being a PS2 and becomes a PS3.
