SOLUTION
I had the same problem, to remedy this....
Go to the main forum page
Go to "Start Your Own Topic"
when prompted to input your email address and password, do so, then submit the information.
Then instead of posting a new topic go back to the forums main page, you should now be able to reply to posts.
