Well another lower division side beats a Premiership side. This time division one opposition Burnley swept aside spurs in the Worthington cup 3rd round.

First half spurs were dominating for the first half an hour, scoring with a well worked corner from Gus Poyet. After 30mins or so Burnley made a change bringing, what appeared to be the commentators boyfriend on, Little. He made a big difference and was immediately in the action helping Burnley to a good spell of posession and a few chances. A disgraceful challenge by a bald headed Burnley thug left Etherington clutching his ankle and he was basically useless for the rest of the game. Hald time spurs were up 0 - 1 and although Burnley were coming back they looked to be in the driving seat.

At half time spurs made a change bringing big Les off and putting their Republic of Ireland centre forward on, Robbie Keane. The second half started as a shock to spurs with Burnley having loads of chances and nearly all of the ball. Burnley running rampant got the equaliser early on. Robbie Keane had a great chance to put the whites back ahead when he went one on one with the Burnley keeper. He toe poked the ball with the outside of his right boot and swept the ball wide of the keepers right stick. Burnley immediately came back and with a lucky shot that got deflected scored as the ball soared into Kellers goal leaving him with no chance. The game had changed with spurs now 2 - 1 down. Commentators were just repeating how 'little had changed the game' and seemed as though they wanted to marry him and have his babies. Anyhow, Burnley dominated most of the second half until Keane had another one on one with the Burnley keeper. This time he tried to scoop it over the keeper but just presented him with an early birthday present and gave it right to his hands. Shouting at the TV i sat down and watched spurs throw away posession and Iversen being as much good as a snowman in hell. He eventually was substituted off for another Irish plank as Doherty came on. The terrible commentery continued with praise for their boyfriend Little being given sparingly. Burnley should have rapped the game up with a chance that hit the post as a brilliant run and shot from Blake went a begging. Spurs were doomed to a defeat and Keanes fourty yard spectacular shot hit the bar didnt even lift the hearts of spurs fans.

The end result was 2 - 1 to Burnley and Spurs go into a tough game on Sunday against Sunderland after being knocked out of the Worthington cup by lower league opposition. A dissapointing result and the only thing Spurs fans can take from the evening was seeing Arsenal and West Ham get beaten.

Robbie Keane should have won that easily, and unfortunatly he didn't take the chances and 'lost' it for us...

And the commontator with the 'slight deflection' comment annoyed me!
