If I sleep slightly past the time I'm supposed to get up, I struggle. Maybe my body thinks if I haven't gotten up by 7am it must be the weekend, so it refused to function!

You're lucky! We can't do that because we have to be here during "normal" office hours, so that our clients can contact us if necessary.
I'd love to be able to do that, though, as I have real trouble waking up between about 6 and 10am. i know how stupid that sounds, but it's true.
If I need to be somewhere very early, such as when I went to pre-order my PS2, then I can do it; getting up at, say, 4am - 6am is really easy - I'll be wide awake. After about 10am, it's a similar story.
But anywhere between 6 and 10, and I have real trouble, no matter what time I go to bed.
I admit it - I'm weird.

I usually make it into bed before midnight on a weeknight, though I was playing various Nintendo games with my wife until 2am last Saturday.
At least you get a hour longer in bed than me mornings, I have to get up at 6am! Mind you I choose to go in for 7:30am, so that I can leave at 3:30pm, and half a nice long evening!
Yes, it is definitely addictive. Even though I should know better, I am often up until 2 or 3am during the week, when I have to be up at 7am for work.
It obviously depends on the game, but you often encounter that "just one more go - another ten minutes" mentality (well, I do...)
One minute it can be, for example, 11pm - and before you know it, it's 2am; several hours have passed in what seems to you to be a few minutes.
It can also affect your work - I've sometimes, on a fairly quiet day in the office, spent so much time thinking about where to go or what to do next in a game, that I've done next to no work, and had to stay on later to get things done.
In my case, I sometimes find that I get more work done when I'm really busy, because I have to focus and there's less time for my mind to wander.
Gaming is also fun, and, to me, is what I'd rather do than watch TV. So I spend a fair amount of time gaming, and would spend more, if I had it, but it's not due to any addiction, it's fun, and it's available now. It doesn't involve any extra cost like a trip down the pub does, so it's easy to start playing too.
Hopefully I've made some relevant points, but I'd like to hear other people views on this.
