BBC were never that hot on timing. What could have been a good Halloween cash in becomes a cult DVD to get hold of and save for next year.

Ghostwatch, as you may have read in my last topic about the programme, was a BBC special that was billed as a play in the Radio Times but shown as a serious documentary. Similar to the Most Haunted programme on Living TV, the show consisted of Michael Parkinson in the studio, hosting a live broadcast from a house with a poltergeist problem.

Sarah Greene and Craig Charles were on site to witness any strange phenomena and all seemed a pretty standard affair for a show like this. That was until things really started happening. What followed was a pretty scary turn of events that had viewers calling up in droves and many people complaining to watchdog and points of view about the shock they recieved (or, more likely, how they were duped into believing it).

It really was a one-of-a-kind TV programme, similar to War of the Worlds when it was first broadcast, the show looked pretty authentic and even if you did realise that it was completely false, it was still scary.

Unfortunately, at the time the BBC decided that it had such an effect on the public that it wasn't going to ever be shown again, but now, after many people have demanded to see it, they've finally released it on DVD.

If you love horror or you're just plain interested to see how far the BBC went one Halloween to scare it's viewers, get hold of this DVD.

Maybe it's all part of the 'spooky' aura that surrounds Ghostwatch?

Yeah, but hardly anyone would see that, besides, as you say they have lousy timing.

Pah, that's old news - www.ghostwatch.info

But why release it in November - just in time for...Christmas!?
