Last night I went to see Apocalypse Now (Redux) in an aircraft hangar at Duxford Imperial War Museum.

There were circa World War 2 planes hanging from the ceiling, and all around.

It was a very strange experience, but I'm not sure the location really adds to the impact of the film.

Maybe because there were a few flaws in Stella Artois' set-up. The seats were too close together, you felt a bit packed in, and the screen was a little too low, so I had to constantly lean to one side or the other to see past Mr Toad.

It was the first time I'd seen the film though, and it was great. I didn't really know what to expect going into it, but it was just mental. I don't really know what else to say about it.

I'd never seen Apocalypse Now at all until Redux came out on DVD. I bought it, watched it, and didn't quite no what to think of it. It's pretty unique, maybe a bit too buried in it's own ideas some times, but the extra scenes like the Plantation and stuff were good. Maybe they should have made it a little less like Heart Of Darkness set during Vietnam...

Still not as good as my favourite war films; Bridge Too Far, Black Hawk Down, We Were Soldiers.

Anyone watch Firefox on Sky One last night ? Nice idea, but about 1 hour too long !

I've only seen Redux, not the plain cinema version and I must say I hated it. The first 45 minutes or so were great but after then it just dragged on and on.
