Anyway, does anyone really believe in the spooky side of Halloween ? I mean it started off from a medieval pagan festival, was demonised by christianity, became popular in America amongst settlers, came back to Europe and eventually ended up the 'no ones quite sure what it is' holiday.
A common legend is that, from when the sun sets tonight, that the spirits of the dead have until sun rise tomorrow to return to the earth, other variations say it is the spirits of peoples relatives that return for one night every year to visit and watch over their loved ones.
Of course all this is supposing you believe in certain things...
Still, here's a few more legends to make you feel all warm;
*If you go to a cross roads at Halloween and listen to the wind, you will learn all the important things that will befall you for the next twelve months.
*If you hear footsteps behind you tonight, do not look around, the dead may be following you.
*Do not harm a stranger tonight, for they may be a wandering spirit...
*Place a pumpkin lantern with a face in your window to show Jack that you too are lost, and he will pass you by as he searches for another to trade souls with.....this is part of the lore surrounding why we have Pumpkins on Halloween.
Ah well, an aimless topic, Happy Halloween ! :)
