The changes for Formula 1 have been interesting. Here they are:

Qualifying has been changed. Every driver will two chances to qualify, one on Friday and one on Saturday. The order they qualify will be determined by championship position on the Friday and by qualifying position on Saturday with the fastest going last.

The next change is to the points scoring system. The new system is:

1st 10pts
2nd 8pts
3rd 6pts
4th 5pts
5th 4pts
6th 3pts
7th 2pts
8th 1pt

One down point. Belguim is not on the 2003 calendar due to tabacco sponsorship.

Team orders which affects the outcome of the race are now banned. How it is policed is something that is still to be resolved.

Tyre companies can now give customised tyre compounds to teams. This means that Michelin can offer different compounds to McLaren and Williams and not have to find a balance.

They are looking at ways of making overtaking easier by design of cars and circuits.

Some interesting changes. A step in the right direction in my opinion.

I don't know if South Africa are upgrading their track. I think they used to race there about 10 years ago.

I like the qualifying rules. The order in which the drivers head for the track is a brilliant idea.

ah well guess it just means less races for Ferrari to storm through next season. Isn't South Africa meant to be putting a bid in to host a race?

No replacement in 2003. It will be a 16 race season in 2003 and China will make it 17 in 2004.

yep i quite like the changes that have been made especially the points for drivers down to 8th. Better to have larger chance of points so if a driver has a spin he can still recover some points.
Shame about Belgium i really liked that corner basically for the first corner good chance of action down there. Any news on a replacement?
