I am thinking of building another cheap system using an old case i have which has a 145watt psu.

i want to use:

GigaByte Pro savage KT266 mobo
AMD Duron 1.3GHz
the 8.4gb hard drive it had before (must be ok)
1 CD-ROM
The monitor will run off it too

will 145watt be enough
the problem is i can get a case + psu for the same price as a 300w psu

the monitor can be anywhere though, although he could probably fix a flat screen in there :p

Really is just a novelty PC though... easier to carry than a normal PC though.

My mate Big Camp Ruari says you'll be fine. Eg:

http://www.groovycarrot.co.uk/ briefcasemirror/briefcase.html (SPACE)

E-mail him if you have any problems, [email protected]. He's big 'n' camp 'n' friendly, don't be shy. Plus, monitors are just passthrough connections to the mains, it doesn't drain the PSU.

Although if you have any problems you'll need to upgrade sharpish.

145w is not enough.

Any local PC shop should have at least 200w supplys in...

no, you can buy cases with 300w PSUs for around £10, I got mine for £20 about a year ago, very nice case.
