Excitebike 64, despite being reviewed ages ago in N64 Mag, will be released in June or something, Banjo-Tooie in March, and Sin and Punishment may never come to British shores (in PAL form, anyway).
We also get those crappy cardboard boxes, which fall apart the more you open and close it. In Hong Kong, the boxes are sturdy, and do not tear, while the cartridge is held in place inside with a small plastic 'holder'
I've had enough of this, and so should everyone else. We should make a stand and petition to Nintendo to treat us fairly.
I've ordered quite a few n64 games through the mail and they're usually packed in a jiffy bag so by the time they get to me they're pretty much flattened.
Now, video publishers can sell videos in sturdy plastic cases for as little as 7 quid and make a profit so couldn't N64 games publishers have managed to do the same when selling us games that cost up to 60 quid? How many boxed snes games do you see for sale compared to megadrive titles?
Now I wouldn't consider myself a games collector but I like to keep my games and their packaging in good condition. This is made much easier by supplying them in sturdy, replaceable plastic cases that can withstand the odd enconter with sharp objects, marmite and baby saliva.
Maybe it would be better if the carts and packaging were made in Germany...
You're right in many respects, the European market is not treated aswell as the American and Japanese markets but there is a very valid reason for this. Japan and America are where the games are made, it only makes sense to release them over there first rather than translating them into English to be shipped over here and then re-translating it back to Japenese and releasing it over there.
The problem of hugley delayed release dates is a very common one on ther N64. However contrary to what you might think the developers and programmers do use this extra time to iron out bugs in the software, Make sure everythings working properly and so on and so on.
Of course though there are going to be exceptions to this, No Mercy for example.
As for the cartridge colour and games box subject... It's well known that we brits are boring, atleast thats the common opinion among foreigners. (all the foreigners I've met anyway) This is what accounts for us not having as flashy cartridges as the overseas markets, but in all honesty, does that REALLY bother you? or are you just trying to find fault with everything now?
As for the boxes... Well I can't see where you're coimng there. I've found that the N64 games boxes are well put together. None of mine have ever fallen apart and I've used them alot.
Basically, I agree with you on some points but others I think you've just made up or are trying to find ANOTHER thing wrong with the European market. I don't think it's all that bad, maybe a few less delays would be nice but...
