Hello there, Im just going to.. have a general rant, not because I’m annoyed or anything, and im not trying to offence anyone or anything like that..

There’s a few things wrong with our.. “Punishment” system..

Rapists. Personally, I think they should be castrated… In Arab if you nicked an apple, they chase after you and chop your hand off. Simple. Effective. Punishment.

Now, this is quite extreme, and so is hanging, but I’d like to see something done about this.

Murderers. Will get life in prison, 15years later there out on bail due to good behaviour. Sorry, but if you take someone’s life, (Depending on the circumstances) You should stay in prison.

Oh, another thing, Jails are turning into Holiday camps, Telly’s/Radio’s in cells, etc etc. If your going to be punished, then you will be punished? Surely.

I think we need some kind of new punishment, Prison is too laid back, yet hanging, can be extreme.

But don’t you think if we had a stricter punishment system, there would be less crimes? Hell they could even just do a trail for 5 years, and I bet, I bet that the crime will decrease by at least half.

Now, the problem with killing, or being extreme, is that the police may have convicted the wrong person, well, only do extreme things when its 100% certain that they have raped/killed or whatever.

Also, I’d like to see some more bins around the place, Sheepy mentioned that there were only 2bins on his 2mile walk home, or something, which, is bloody poor! Either put more bins about, or make some kind of biodegradable packaging? Maybe if it got wet or something?

This country needs a good spanking.

They need to get in line, they say, at the rate we’re using oil and stuff there is only enough for another 70 years or something. Then they suggested a way which we could all use Solar Power and stuff etc etc and it was really really good.

And, you may have strong feelings about this.. or whatever, but this is my topic and my views, but, I don’t respect the Queen, or any of her cronies. Maybe prince Will and Harry, (Druuugs :oD) and also the deceased Princess Diana.
But nobody else, why, because they do nothing. Nothing that I can see anyway.

Ah, that’s me general rant, any views on my points would be good.

Again, this isn't technically right. The law says that you can use reasonable force to stop somebody who you feel is a valid threat to yourself, or others in your house, and that you can use reasonable force to defend yourself again someone.

Say if you wake up one night, go downstairs, and there's someone in the living room. If he/she threatens you or attacks you then you can fight backto stop them. If they pull away from you and leave then that'd be legal. If they pull away and you stop them, and continue to attack, then that'd be illegal. Same goes for using weapons. If you got up and carried a weapon, and used it in self defence then you'd probably be legal, but if you used it simply to stop someone who wasn't a threat then that's illegal. Say if you found someone in the house, they had a knife and went for you, you could use a weapon, but again if they stopped attacking and you then attacked them whilst they fled, then it's illegal.

Basically it's a screwed up system, but I don't think we should have the right to do anything we want to people just because we find them like that. Sure, reasonable force, but anything ?

Yea, I think, although your points are very valid Andy, that the whole system, (Slaveunit) needs updating too.

Some things are pathetic.

Not harsh things as I have said, but the whole thing needs a revamp an changing.

Great idea...except the resulting UN sanctions would cripple us and the resulting poverty would create more crime.

The answer isn't punishment, it's prevention and treatment in most cases.

Definately. Make things more harsh.

Did you know that you get in more trouble with the law for speeding than you do from putting a rope around a speed camera, tying it to your car and ripping it out the ground?

What the system needs is balance.

A bloke got 4 years for killing someone, yet you can get 4 years for using a mobile phone in a car.

The whole system needs updating.

I studied this punishment arguement a few years ago. I think professional studies found that 90% of murders were 'spur of the moment' or 'crimes of passion' etc.

In other words, the consequences (ie punishment) are not considered and have very little bearing on whether the crime is committed or not. The other 10% probably think they are clever enough to avoid getting caught too!

Perhaps the answer is 3ft*2ft*8ft cells, we can cram more in, and it will act as a punishment in itself. Prisoners are nourished through a tube, and they excrete from other tubes. As exercise they are allowed to run on the spot.
