Most of the characters didn't tie up with what I'd imagined. David Jason did a good job as ever, but I'd pictured Rincewind as younger, taller, skinnier, and wetter, but there we go. I was also disappointed by the Patrician, who didn't come across anywhere near as vicious as I'd thought of.
A lot of the humour seemed lost - maybe because so much of it comes from the description TP gives, rather than actual words the characters say?
I know I probably sound quite negative, but I did quite enjoy it. I hope they do some more.
Personally I think the stories that will work best are the ones about the City Watch like 'guards guards' which can have an almost detective and, even in the later ones, a CSI feel.
maybe they just need to get to grips with the best way to visualize his narrative and humour, maybe similar to the 'book' in 'the hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy'
My girlfriend who has never read the books quite liked the films, she really liked DEATH and she got the same feeling for his character as I get from the books so maybe us literary types are just too snobby
