Every character in the game is modelled on real martial artist past and present. So no more Fei-Longs (Streetfighter), Laws, and Leis (Tekken).
Arcade mode basically consists on one on one fighting, with each character with the fighting style of the person they're portraying, so you get the speed and agility of people like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan, and the power of people like Samo Hung.
Alternatively, you can play story mode, where you create your own character (pick from pre-set or make mad WWF-esque freaks). You then decide whose training school to go to, which will eventually determine your own fighting style. You have to do training events, such as building up strength, stamina and speed. You also have to learn the moves and combos from your mentor. The timing of the button presses can be set as you see fit.
When you think your character is ready, you can enter him into the numerous tournaments in the game. These consist of regional national and international levels, and only when you win the lower events, can you enter into the higher ones. As you win tournaments, you unlock special features, extra characters, and other things (think of later). You unlock better things, if you win tournaments using your own created character.
