Now some of you may have misread and thought it said 'Have gamers lost the plot?' Well that is also part of the topic!

Games used to be a family thing up until the N64 stopped selling as well!

Games were much better when they were board games cos people could play them with up to 6 players or more sometimes and they would last and you wouldn't need 'save points'. They were cheap and easy to play. You didn't have to buy additional controllers and accessories to use them and they were fun!

I've got loads of board games and I try to play them as much as possible! One of my favourites is Game Of Life!

Have any of you hardcore gamers heard of Anti-Monopoly? It's a board game where you have to take over Europe in a similar way to the original monopoly! It's much more complicated and fun than the original and literally takes hours to finish a game! It is possible for the game to take days!

Waddingtons used to bring out loads of games and so did Parker but you don't see many of them around anymore.

Nowadays you have to lay multiplayer games either with just one person (Playstation/Playstation 2) or play them over the web with total strangers (multiplayer PC).

At least with games like Goldeneye and perfect dark you can have up to 4 players but games need to be more family entertaining! They need to become party pieces. And they also need to come down in price (the retail price not SR price)

OK, ignoring costs then, you've got a PS2 with a copy of Timesplitters, and a game of Ludo sitting in front of you. What do you do? Well? Do you feel lucky, punk?

:-)

You are right though, families ain't what they used to be, I'm glad I've grown up now and don't have to worry about it so much. My opinion is: If it's a good game, play it. If it's detrimental to family life, but on a PS2, play it anyway.

There are pleny of great board games out there, Monopoly Cluedo, Risk, Scrabble, ....all great family games which are often much more enjoyable than playing some fighting game clone on the PSX. That's before I even touch on the host of great games released by Games Workshop - yes you know the ones...
Anyway, perhaps video games do tend to alienate the family a little, but they're good for socialising with friends, which is just as important.

Actually, it's cos board sounds like bored.

No really.

Well...
Maybe.

It is actually true that the average man is put of from monogamy because it sounds like monotony, at least partly.

Hence my favourite wood is oak.
