Is it me, or are films becoming really, really careful about how they're marketed? For instance, has anyone seen the advert for that K:19 film? It says at the bottom of the final bit "Contains sustained peril and grisly images". Now I know you can tell from the trailer that it's not gonna be a laugh a minute goof-fest, but it's too much when they tell the audience what too expect. The same happened with Spiderman: "Contains scenes of fantasy violence". We. Know. It's a film about a Spider man that cathces super-villains - there's bound to be violence! So why do studios feel the need to warn us beforehand? It's really annoying.

You used to get the occassional warning if a film had a scene or two that wasn't quite suitable for the certificate it was given, but now it happens with every film. There's even been a new certificate invented so that cinemas can attract the target audience and sensors can raise the age-range. "12A", "so little Timmy doesn't fall out his chair and smack his head-harness on the floor."

So, in conclusion...er...monkeys? I dunno, I kinda lost my way with this thread. It was going to be some kind of GAD attempt, but I can't be bothered now. You all know what I mean about the bubble-wrapping thing, right?

U: Ungood
PG: Pretty Good or Poor Girly film
12: 12 out of 10 is a good mark, so film must be ok
15: Only 3 points away from being an 18. The three points are: 1) Sustained swearing within the dialouge is needed, 2)Every other scene needs some nudey prodding in it, 3) Both the aforementioned need to take place with big guns going off.
18: Man film

I thought this was going to be about that cockney troll from Big Brother sticking his tongue out and rapping.

Warnings should be stricter, but say things like
"This movie contains no good bits you havent seen in the trailer"
"This movie contains 18 product placements"
"This movie reeks of ass"

"This movie contains sustained peril"

That made me laugh. I thought K:19 was the sequel to K-9, the 'cop and his dog' comedy starring James Belushi. But then I realised that there was already a sequel, called K-911.

But yeah, I know what you mean. And why is chopping an Orc's head off less violent than chopping off a man's head? Violence is violence, sonny boy.
