I can sense when a TV is on or off! If I stand around the corner from the TV in my living room, I could tell you whether or not the TV was switched on, even with the volume turned right down.

Now, this one of those things that is either...

1) A completely normal thing and only weird to me.

or

2) Indication that I'm some kind of evil demon / alien / mutant / Welshman that has weird powers.

The second option would be nice, but can anyone else do this?!

You're not alone - I've been able to tell for as long as I remember.

My hearing is very sensitive to high-pitched sounds, and I've determined that the TV gives off a pretty high frequency sound when it's on. It's not a sound I can describe - I just know it's there.

Try leaving the TV on at night when there's no other sound (volume off, of course!), close your eyes and concentrate - you may be able to hear it.

Is that why when you fall asleep with the TV on you wake up in the dead of night and turn it off?

Interesting.

Yup, i actually leave my TV on at night with the volume on mute when i go to sleep. I go insane at night when it is completely silent, and need the slight sound of the TV to relax me.

I think everybody in the world can sense the TV being on.

Except those that dont have one of course.
