As seems to happen in all those top-down zelda games, at some point you get stuck and can't figure out what the hell you have to do to progress.

Part of me wants to figure it all out myself, part of me wants the little nugget of information necessary to progress, so the sticking point is over and done with.

Needless to say I've run around everywhere and tried all manner of lame ideas - to the point where I've run out of sensible things to try.
So now I'm considering roaming the land(s) for ways to advance.. anything.

What do you think - keep searching, hopefully eventually find something that will seem so obvious in hindsight, but be completely bored until then,
or swallow my lame-faced pride and read up on what to do?

[If it helps, I'm trying to get into the dungeon below the statue in the shadow village.]

Heh, I noticed that in the walkthrough - apparently they took that part out of the GBA version.

I don't know whether to feel relieved or cheated!

So I checked the walkthrough to get into the swamp area, and went on to get to the final ganon fight.

Turns out I need a silver arrow for when I turn him to stone.

Cue final dilemma (unless the final fight is strung out a little further, but I don't think it will be - the silver arrow is usually the final blow). Beating up Ganon to the point where he's vulnerable is easy enough, so the final real challenge to complete the game is to get the silver arrow.

To FAQ or not to FAQ.. Hmm.

I remember my nextdoor neighbours having the Link to the Past, and they couldn't get past one of the early dungeons (can't remember which), we borrowed it for a while, and were stuck on the same bit for ages... Then finally discovered tghe Lantern wasn't just there to see better in the dark, but could be used to light torches too! Which opened a new passage, and let us complete the dungeon!

ALso, remeber the ice dungeon in the dark world being hideously annoying... something about dropping blocks down a hole into the correct place...

**Spoiler**

I caved and checked gameFAQs.

Turns out you just had to pull on the bar blocking the entrance.
I'd tried it (several times I think), but evidently hadn't been pulling for long enough :^S

I'm glad I checked TBH, I probably wouldn't have tried pulling again any time soon.

Now I can't get into the swap area (where the desert is in the light world.

I've run around without getting anywhere a few times, no progress. I'm tempted to go find the answer online again.

I'm not sure though, the whole point of the game is figuring this stuff out on your own.

I can't remember exactly how you do it, but from what I remember it's quite easy... If getting into it is the way I think it is, then you seem to know where it is, so you should be able to figure out how to get into it... I think... :S
