Over the years we've seen new technology, remember the time you were playing your Master System or Atari? Think back to then and the present will seem such a long way away and it's true, like you, games have come a long way. They've made their journey though they've only just started it, gaming is still so new in so many ways.
Away from the 3-D graphics, processors and console wars the actual games we play today are thanks to many before them. Every single year there a spotlight games, ones which stand out from the rest. In the current day most of you would say Grand Theft Auto 3 was the game which has shined out from the crowd. So true, and why? Because it was ambitious, the team behind the pixels set out to create a game like nothing before and they achieved.
Rockstar, the creators of Grand Theft Auto 3, are only one of many company’s who have tried to create that original game which will steal so many peoples hands for a hours on end. You see, Rockstar succeeded like many other company’s yet the same can not be said for a handful of others. Smaller company’s will have projects going on right now which are ambitious, the larger ones will also. But it's what grabs the publics eye and works which will bring them in the income and sadly many will not succeeded and so will only cost the company. But if it works, they've got it big.
That's why large developers have a range of titles in development. Some are almost clones of other games yet they have new storylines and some added touches whilst others, which are of a smaller sector, are something new, or something trying to be new.
To tell you the truth developers are scared to create original games. After all, their after profit and what sells? Big name games, stick some well known figure on the front a you have instant income. Stick some unknown figure on the box and it will hardly bring in any income, a little more if it has been praised and heard but still probably less. In the end, it's easier to create a big name game then a totally original one. Why waste time, effort and money on a game which may not work? That's why they are scared and that's why a large selection of games on the shelves are absolute rubbish.
*punches them*
