Great film, saw it for the first time last night. An intriguing premise and defintitely a vote winner for the Conservative party...

The one thing stopped the film being an absolute classic was the constant reference to being in love with someone: every one was in love with someone on that damn island-yawn.

I did love, however, the instructional video on how to play BR, that the students had to watch-a classic piece of satire.

And how disappointed would you be if your allocated weapon was a saucepan lid...

Or a potato peeler.

You should see the film Scum. That is the ultimate BR set within a young offenders institute. Shocking and powerfull, even by today's standards.

A re-make set inside the school itself? Would be interesting to see what sort of weapons people could fashion in the PE department (smelly rubgy top in long stick-lethal range about 1m). Class against class. Year against year. Peer group against peer group. There are many ways it could evolve.

I thought it was great, but my mates said that it was crap because there was no sex.

A silly argument, but when you think about it, they were all at school, they knew all about it but haddnt had it, and they were all going to die in 2 days. Surely more people would have got it on?

I thought the ending was too happy

Been planning a remake since I first saw it, and I'd have a much more downbeat ending

Also, it'd be set in the US or UK

And I'm stupid enough to book my honeymoon to the island of death because it was on special offer at Thomas Cook.

I should have known: The offer was for two outbound tickets and only one return, hence the lower price.

Moral: always read the small print.

If I was in that position, I'd think "Oh what the hell" and tell her exactly how I felt.

Mind you,I'm stupid enough to do that without being sent to an island of death.

There is "romantic" love and there is "friendship" love, I thought they overplayed the first and the later was intrinsic to the concept. That said the extereme cirumstances could lead you to act spontaneously, revealing your affection to your unrequited love.

I know i would.
