OK, here's the reviews tip bit (Gameaday Prize 2).
This is what SR say:
"WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN A WINNING GAMEADAY REVIEW
You must post the best review of the day to win this prize - this means your review must be eye-catching, informative and concise. What we're looking for is something that other people want to read, not something that is full of waffle. Just listing the game/DVD's features isn't really enough, try and be descriptive - these reviews are supposed to influence people who might want to buy the product.
WHAT WE'RE NOT LOOKING FOR
Reviews posted in UKchatforums.com will not be considered for a Gameaday prize, only reviews posted at UKreviews.com are eligible. Reviews that don't attempt to make a point and consist of something like 'this game is rubish, it woz too hard' won't even be considered. Reviews that have bad spelling, grammar and punctuation won't be dismissed, but good presentation is important. A game review for a three year-old game won't be as much use as a review for a brand new game."
So basically, you've got 4000 characters to play with when writing a review of a game or DVD. You'll see by looking at previous winning reviews that they don't waffle, sometimes a spell checker has even been used, and above all most of them use as many of those 4000 characters as they can.
Reviews for products released in the past week are more likely to win than a review of Space Invaders, and if you review a new hardware product (like a new graphics card or peripheral) all the better, because SR are looking for more reviews like that.
Personally I only review games in my collection that I enjoy, because that should come through in the way the review is written. Bad game reviews don't sell product, nor do they often make good reading, so I try to stay clear of them. That's not to say you can't write a review of a game saying it's the worst game you've ever had the misfortune to play and not win a GAD for it, it's just harder.
For more information on the other GADs that you can win, have a look at the 'How You Win' links under each one on the main www.gameaday.co.uk webpage. Reading them should help.
The only other tip I can give is the more you write (write well, not just spam to get wordcount up) the more chances you have of winning. Some days yours might be the only review posted, or the snappiest topic-title in the chat forums which increases your chances of winning immeasurably.
