Piante Village is covered in hot goo! AH! How do I get up to the middle blokey!?

Butt-slam lol. I can't even remember where I am, I think it's the level with the ghosts after the level with the manta ray. I would be further, but I'm trying to play Onimusha 2 at the same time.

I swam up the river into the little pond thing and a tree sprouted in the middle when i washed the stuff off with drips. Didnt help me though

I'm not sure if he's in the middle....but hes somewhere - the mayor or summat like that me thinks.
