Well I put forward to you this; the latest Mario game is encouraging crime, to be precise theft and shoplifting. How? Well those of you who have been playing for a while will know that the inhabitants of the island are fond on fruit where the adventure is set. Well some of the inhabitants ask for fruit in return for blue coins. All you have to do is take fruit from the stalls and put them in various baskets. In essence shoplifting. In public. And Mario gets money in return, to fund his drug situation no less.
Mario has not paid for the fruit, moreover, Mario’s sole aim is to kill or maim various so called enemies around various levels, in order to steal their 'shines'. These monsters do not actually go out of their way to attack Mario unless provoked. And this is all set in some rather surreal, and I believe, drug induced levels. And this is all set against a backdrop of criminal underworld infighting between Mario and another who goes around kidnapping.
Super Mario Sunshine advocates the use of drugs, teaches us that crime pays and that killing other for reward is alright. Well, if you ask me this easily deserves an 18 certificate, if not a total ban. If this is Nintendo’s attempt at a mature image then they have sadly lost their way.
(Note: None of this is true, the following was an over analysis of the game/s and does not represent my official stance on the game. :-))
Well spotted.
Let's hope Mario doesn't REALLY end-up in Jail after this all...
No-wonder he sounds so strange, he's always high!
