Well.... the ending to the Thing on PS2 is this and it also has a twist at the end which involves one of the characters from the film. Anyway, your character... Blake runs up to the main bad guy and he turns into this giant Thing and then a chopper comes along and you control an M60 on the side and you have to shoot all the explosive barrels which then fries the bad guy.
Then when the Thing is dead, they fly off and they start talking and Blake says to the guy 'So whats your name' and the guy says 'Childs' and then it zooms up to him with a little bit of freaky music applying to you that he is a Thing and that he is going back to mainland and is gonna infect everyone. The END!

Sorry, I meant to say Mcreedy cos Childs was the black bloke from the film and I think that the ending is implying that Mcreedy is a thing because it plays the suspicious music and stuff and Y did he not die with hilds.... because he is a thing. I read something that tells you that the director of The Thing film was showing that one of the two people at the end of the film was a Thing. Apparently you can tell if you watch them closely.

The guy controlling the helicopter says his name is McCreedy, and McCreedy is the main star from The Thing (the film) played by Kurt Russell.
It's just a little reference for fans of the film to let them know that he survived.
