Will it be good old Nintendo? They began back in the 1880’s as a Japanese card company, and they have slowly, but surely made it to the top. There first console, the Nes sold millions of copies worldwide! (I think) that was there real breakthrough, then they went on to make the Snes, another huge success followed by the Gameboy, N64, Game Boy pocket, Game Boy colour and the fantastic Gamecube. I very much doubt they’ll pullout.
Sony. This company took a shine to Nintendo, and thought they should have some real competition. Along came the Playstation. Although it only had 32bit, some say it was the better out of N64 and Psone, purely because of the games. Then the (unfortunately rushed) PS2 came out. ‘The most entertaining piece of hardware’ some named it, clearly beating the Dreamcast. Then again because of the early glitches found in it Sony had to rebuild the whole thing!
Finally there’s the newbie Microsoft, no experience in the console making business released the X Box. Nobody bought one at the launch, but they have slowly been rising. With out a doubt, the X Box is the most non-profitable console, loosing over £1,000,000,000 on it. Microsoft, on the other hand, has just bought Rare, which will boost their sales rapidly in the long term.
It’s a close one, I’ll leave you guys to comment on it.
...who knows where it will go from there?!
...hopefully the Gamecube will take out the X box to be crowned the console war winner!
