Patrick Vieira has given the clearest indication yet that he will extend his contract with Arsenal.
The 26-year-old, who took over the captaincy at Highbury this summer after the retirement of Tony Adams, has been the subject of transfer speculation over the past few seasons. But, in an interview with France Football, Vieira revealed he had already begun talking to the club about securing his future with Arsenal.
"I have entered negotiations to extend my contract, which expires in 2004," he said. "I am taking part in talks to find a common ground and I cannot see any reason why I shouldn't stay."
I don't see floods of players wanting to leave United's sinking ship after they - ahem - didn't win anything! ;-p
But don't think that'll stop the likes of Real Madrid and the Italian clubs like Juventus pestering your club for his signature come June next-year!
But that could all change, and he could easilly start whining about something once again, and decide he wants to leave.
Or what if Arsenal fail to lift anything this season, will he still want to be there?? Here's said before that he wants to win things. If Arsenal were to lose that soon then he'd surely be on his way?
:)
