"Damn it!" exclaimed Drunk cow as he ran into another firewall on the net. This was his third time in as little as two minutes. He was searching through Ebay trying to find the perfect gift for his perfect partner. Her name was Mystique and although he had only met her last week he was sure there was something special about her. Something that he couldn't quite put his finger on it but it was there like some sort of aura around her lighting up everything around her. He had tried all the usual places the town jewellers, cosmetics store; clothes centre even the city stylist. Money was never a factor for him he always had more money than he could ever spend but that was no surprise to anyone. His father owned a 49% share in Sony and a 40% share in Microsoft. In its most simple terms he was absolutely minted! But neither his possessions nor money could get him the love of a woman. "NO!" Shouted Drunk Cow he just hit another firewall he couldn't seem to search for anything on Ebay. Granted what he was searching for was somewhat out of the ordinary but he needed something both exquisite and noticeable for he was not the only one wanting the title of "Mystiques Boyfriend".

He was searching for many items especially of foreign origin. He had seen a dress made from the finest silks in India, a necklace set with the most perfectly cut green amber only found in the Dead See of Russia but he wanted something else. He was searching for some of the most exotic flowers found in the world and he had already decided on the perfect ones. They weren't rare or hard to find but he wanted to buy her a bouquet of Poppies from Iran. He new he could get them almost anywhere else but he remembered when he saw them six years ago when he went on his more exotic holidays. He remembered seeing them all in a field swaying tranquilly bending to the winds commands. They meant a lot to him for some reason and he new Mystique would appreciate the beauty of those little red flowers he loved so much.

February 2nd

“Hey Mystique!” Shouted Drunk Cow over the lunch hall. He had finally received those flowers and as much as he wanted to keep them for himself he knew they would win him the heart of the dazzling Mystique.

“Hey Drunk Cow, What’s up? Hey what’s up with the flowers? Are they for me!” Said Mystique as she strolled over to meet Drunk Cow. She was obviously surprised at him carrying flowers around school but she was happy to see the ribbon delicately tying them together with a golden nametag with her name written on it.

“Yeah they mean a lot to me but not as much as you do. I also got you this as a symbol of my feelings for you.” States Drunk cow as he opens up a red silk box with the necklace I mentioned earlier lying in a line in all its glory.

“OH MY GOD!! THIS MUST HAVE COST A FORTUNE!!! I mean I new you were the richest in the school but this is to much I can’t except.” Said Mystique.

“Your worth it but can I ask you for one thing in return but only say what your heart say’s these gifts are tokens of my love I would never try to buy you.” Said Drunk Cow

“Yes of course what is it?” Said mystique with a bewildered look across her face.

“Will you be my girl friend? I have loved you from the day I saw you. I have loved you since I first laid eyes on you and I need to know if you feel the same…” Said Drunk Cow as he stared into Mystiques eyes with undeniable longing for that one word answer he wants so much.

“Oh Drunk Cow I can’t love you…As much as I like you and I always have I just can’t I hope you can understand…” Said Mystique she wanted to cry out to Drunk Cow “YES I love you to” But it could never be. She had her reasons but she couldn’t tell anyone anything about them or let anyone get close to her for fear of what could happen.

“But… I love you…” Said Drunk Cow he felt worse than he had ever done before. He felt like he had just been hit by a train and no body cared. He wanted to collapse on the floor but using whatever strength he had left kept him standing there with a look of intense pain and heartache on his face.

“I’m sorry but please don’t make this harder than it already is. You don’t understand it’s not you I can’t get close to anyone … I have to go!” Said Mystique as she turned around and head for the door trying her hardest to keep a straight face but her feelings were to strong to block out. She completely forgot about her last two classes and went home early crying her eyes out at what she just had to do.

“Good Bye…” Said Drunk Cow as he slowly sat down on the school bench and turned round to his lunch. His friends ReDdy, BIGMAN and AJ were as shocked as he was and frankly none of them knew what to say or do. They weren’t going to lie to their best friend saying things like “You don’t need her” and “She isn’t that pretty anyway” because everyone knew she was a once in a lifetime catch.

As time went on the bell for class went but Drunk Cow didn’t feel like he could stand listening to another one of his teacher’s lectures after what had just happened so his friends said bye and left him there with a few final words of condolence. Drunk Cow sat there for twenty minutes just repeating the same question over and over in his head. “Why did she reject me?” and all he could think of was that he wasn’t in her league and he never would or could be. His emotions were gathering in his head, he was filled with mixed feelings but none could be described as anything better than totally abysmal. He called his Dad on his mobile. He didn’t feel like driving home from university that day and he definitely didn’t want to be alone that night.

February 3rd

Drunk Cow was in a terrible state for the whole of the day. He didn’t seem to do anything at all that day. He was feeling the same emotions of days gone by and couldn’t seem to shake them off not even when in the company of his Mum and Dad. His friends called round to his house but all they could get out of him was a long-winded “Hello” and “Good Bye”. Even if it were a school day he wouldn’t have gone in. Maybe he was to emotional to stand being told what to do by teachers or maybe he just couldn’t bare to see the face of the woman he loved and got rejected by. As the day wore on he stayed in his room in the worst state he’d ever been in. He eventually found the strength to face his pain. He decided that the only way to get over his pain was to go to Mystique and say “I’m sorry if I hurt you and I can’t change my feelings but I hope we can still be friends…”

Drunk Cow got up and in a frenzy of mixed feelings got dressed and ran for the door. On the way over to Mystique’s house he constantly revised what he was going to say but nothing sounded better than what he thought of at first. Thirty minutes later he arrived at the front door of the house he felt like butterflies were in his stomach but he knew what must be down until he looked in the window of Mystique’s bedroom. It was un-mistakable standing in a glass vase proudly and full of passionate colours was the bouquet of Poppies he gave her the day before. He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out the little silk box with the necklace inside. He must have put it in his pocket after Mystique left it. He didn’t know what to think now, he was totally calm and as the cool spring breeze swept across his face he remembered when he first saw that field of Poppies and was happy that Mystique admired the beauty of those simple little plant’s that brought him so much happiness.
