Actually they haven't, but don't leave yet.

It's looks like Nintendo are planning a GC Pokemon game, online!

They've released a picture of a 3D pokeball, with what looks like a socket for an internet connection on it. Anyway, heres the news so you don't have to go there yourself:

Catch 'em all over the world could be the future of Pokemon and we may just have the proof to confirm it...

We came across this advert on the web, which appears to confirm that Pokemon is going online and you can expect to be catching em' all over the world some time in the future.

Nintendo's online network is live in Japan now and given their promotion of 'connectivity', we would expect it to branch out to GBA, via the link-up cable, sometime soon.

GBA's Pokemon Advance is out in Japan on November 21 (early next year UK) but to date, there's been no confirmed news from Nintendo of a Gamecube Pokemon. However, it seems inconceivable that Pokemon wouldn't make it to Gamecube.

The advert shows a poke ball with an internet connection socket sitting nicely on its front and obviously suggests online gaming, as does the slogan.

If there was ever a game to kickstart Nintendo's online ambitions, Pokemon would surely be it - seemingly tailor-made for such a medium. The game is head-to-head, the exchange of information should be pretty low and its addictive nature could have you online for days!

It's easy to envisage online leagues, championships, add-ons that release a whole new bunch of pokemons, new capture environments - well, the possibilities seem endless.

The only problem is that Nintendo have confirmed none of this, typically preferring to stay quiet on the matter. The advert could also be a fake. To us it looks good but it isn't the most difficult kind of image to mock up. So, for now, it's in the balance but we think you will indeed be playing Pokemon online (Gamecube and GBA) in the near-ish future.

Well you can either have a 56k modem in your cube or broadband (512k).

I'm assuming 56k-ers will only be able to play with other 56k-ers, and BB with BB.
