"N64 Peripherals - Whats What - Help Anyone ?"

Hi, right I'm looking into getting an old N64 because the Gamecube is the first Nintendo console I've had since the Snes and there's clearly some great games like Perfect Dark out there.

I know very little about it and one thing is completely confusing me.

The N64 can have a 4mb expansion pack for things like Donkey Kong, Perfect Dark e.t.c yes ? Does it also have a memory card for game saves as well ? Is a memory expansion pack a memory card, or something different ?

Any advice would be great,

expansion pack : 4mb memory expansion for smoother graphics and other stuff that could be upgraded, basically like adding ram to a computer.
It is not a memory card , and you will never need a memory card anyway, as most games have inbiult memory in the cartridge, but some awkward games like turok i think need memory cards.

if you want an N64 with no leads , no box instructions or anything, apart from a jumper pack (thing that makes it work, every N64 has one) then i can sell you my spare one that i bought on ebay a month or so ago. I paid £8 + £6 postage, so £14. If you want , you can buy it off me for £7 + £6 postage. I bought it but have no need for it (i thought i might want it one day). If you do , tell me and we can sort something out.

4mb RAM expansion is for certain games only, but will boost other games graphics, even though it isn't needed. Perfect Dark and Zelda 2 both NEED the pak. Most others its an optional extra.

Yes, there are Nintendo memory 'paks'. I have loads of N64 accesories, if you wanna buy some. The paks are only needed in a few games though. Most save to cart.

The expansion is like RAM. and The graphics card is not used much cos of cartridges but that goes in the controller anyway

I don't think it is a memory card too.

You also need it to play Majoras Mask.
