For those of you who don't know about this game yet, I thought it deserved a mention seeing as it's got zero hype.

Blood Rayne is set in World War II and you play as a half-human, half-vampire trying to stop the Nazis from dabbling in the occult, attempting to get some supernatural aid to win the war. But don't worry, it has nothing to do with Raiders of the Lost Ark at all.

Anyway it's played in a Max Payne style of way, except it's going to be sooooo much better. Firstly it has a groovy combat system, you can hold a weapon in each hand, choose which weapon you want in each hand and target two different enemies at once. Also being a vampire you can suck the blood and all that stuff you'd expect, you can also fight with silky martial arts skills, and she has a pair of retractable blades on her arms for disemboweling fun :) And yes, theres 'bullet time' in it to.

Also, she has four different view types, like the Aliens or Predator in AvP. And they are: normal vision, dilated perception, aura vision and extruded view (a sort of sniper mode I beleive).

And after you hack people up and stuff, their bodies (not to mention all the blood splattered up the walls and stuff) sticks around so you can see the result of your carnage :)

Anyway, I wrote this from what I could remember out of NGC, so if you don't have that issue then you should check it out. They say it's like 'Max Payne meets Blade'.

They even gave it a 4/5 anticipation rating :D

Me and my friends have a right laugh at it! It's a shame Max Payne offered little variety. Each level involved shooting people, shooting people, and shooting people. It was like:

"Oh great! A surprisingly elaborate plot twist!"

Only to find the next level is exactly the same as the last one.

Go to bed Max. The literary side of your head has gone into overdrive.

Lol - Max Payne's cut scenes. I remember a particular one:

A guy is talking to Max through a gate. Another guy shoots him from behind, in the head, his brains splattering everywhere.

"He was dead. I could tell by the cold and accusing stare of his eyes."

I mean, you think you'd know he was dead just by the fact he had just got his brains blown out in front of you, wouldn't you?

People complained about Max Paynes shortness, but if it had lasted about a chapter lobger, it would have been way too repetitive. As it stands, its just repetitive - but lovely looking too.

This sounds much better than Max Payne and it OTT cut scenes. Hmm.....blood!

I hope this isn't completely boring and repetitive like Max Payne either.

I think this is on Xbox too.

Not sure though.

Hopefully, unlike Max Payne, it will be longer than about 15 minutes ;)

I think the game is coming out for x-box and PC, I don't know about the PS2. Sounds like an interesting idea, vampires and nazi's is a bit odd, but interesting.

It's GC exclusive at the time the magazine went to print, but I'm not entirely sure. I think it will be though.

I'm making it my mission to tell the world about the games with zero hype :)

Also, as I see from your tag, you like Doshin - another zero hype game, and a great one at that!

They should try the zero hype tactic more often.
