Very sour.
Best bits? Her running over his sports car in a monster truck. Him peeing on the fish at a dinner party, her going down on him in the loft and biting him before shoving him through the hatch whereapon he crashes to the floor and him realising he might be eating a pate made from his dogs.

Yeah, a great movie. It was on TV a while ago too, one of those films that gets shown around New Years.
I think the closest in spirit to this movie is Heathers, but that was a little too hip and "cool".
I love Heathers, think it's top but I think it was aimed at those that would "get it"
Whereas War of The Roses was a major studio movie, massive cinema release and came not too long after the Romancing The Stone movies.
I don't think it's trying to be "cult", like you said it's a willfully nasty film that revels in just being 100% dark.
"Once in a lifetime comes a movie that makes you want to fall in love all over again. This is not that movie"

One of my all-time favourites this. Still probabably the most dark and twisted mainstream comedy I can think of. The end is pure genius, when Michael Douglas reaches out and tries to take her hand, in what would have been a schmaltzy moment of reconcilliation in any other Hollywood movie. Love it.
