My younger brother has just been given a new PC for his school work, its an old computer from my granchas work. He's not used to computers and lately the colour has decreased from 256 colours to just 16 bit (it looked like it was in safe mode). Well since then he hasn't or I haven't been able to get 256 colours, the option has disappeared from the drop down list. I've updated the drivers but, it dont seem to make a difference. Any help is well appreciated.

When you go to customise desktop on the desktop, the Setting option displays no 256 colours anymore, it did at first???

Definately a driver problem, they either need re-installing or updating from the web.
I doupt it is the monitor mate, it sounds like there is a problem with the the video card drivers.
