I got my PS2 on Friday morning. True I had to get up at 4.30 in order to be there to collect it at 7am but it was definately worth it.

I love the beautiful machine. TTT is absolutely awesome. The graphics are unbelievable and the game play is brilliant. The only fault I can find is the scrolling thing, when as many reviews have said sometimes it does look like you are fighting on a revolving disk disconected from the backgrounds. BUT as it makes no difference whatsoever to the game play it does not bother me in the slightest. The backgounds in general are beautifully realised and the whole game just oozes class. I spent hours playing it on Saturday night (about 7 hours straight actually) and I have unlocked the theatre mode, tekken bowl, the screen capture option and all but one of the characters.
Once I have unlocked them all I am going to concentrate on becoming a Tekken master with my favourite few characters.

As for SSX well that game is flawless. Babylonian you are in for a treat when you get your hands on this. It is original, well thought out, brilliantly designed tracks and great fun to play. It is so fast you really get the adrenaline rush associated with these sports and the tricks are not just gimmicks but an integral part of the play. I was expecting it to be awesome from all the reviews I had read and I was not disappointed its amazing.

You will soon get into pulling crazy stunts and exploring off piste.
The only thing that has surprised me as that it is quite hard. I have not managed to unlock any of the other tracks yet (Snowdream is the one you start with) and I hope I can soon as I am getting a bit fed up with Snowdream. To be honest though as I have spent most of my weekend on TTT I have not put in the time required to get very good at SSX yet so I should not be complaining.

All in all though I can say that buying the PS2 was the best decision I ever made. It is amazing and these are just the 1st generation games!!!

Go out and buy one as soon as you have the chance, if you dont then you obviously are not into games.

Sure did - 9th October. Once I'd chosen the game, I added myself to SR's "e-me" list for when they had stock of SSX, and I had an e-mail on Friday saying it was in, but I haven't had it yet.

I'm normally patient, but I really want to get started on SSX. I can only play the version on the PS2 demo disc so many times!

Go to the gameaday winners pop up box, and email the address there. Make sure you state you need it by monday, and why. They're sure to make sure it gets to you on time.

By the way, does anyone know roughly how long SR take to send out Gameaday prizes?

Mail on Sunday was reporting £1500 for a PS2 ! Getting a bit silly.
Altavista was reporting an auction in the us where a PS2 allegedly went for $14,999

I love the thing but that could sway me......

Have to agree though, if anyone wanted a £300 console that badly why not just pre-order one like the rest of us and save £1,200 ? ? ? Might be a bit of made-up journalism going on...

Well - it's nice to see I'm not alone. I have had grief all day from my mates after taking two days off but the way I look at it is they are only jealous. And in between all the ribbing everyone wants to know what it plays like and which games are best. The answer to that question though is easy - they all are. I bought Timesplitters, SSX, R2R and Fifa - which has taken most of my time along with Driver2 for PSone, (this actually looks better on PS2 - I didn't hold up high hopes for the texture smoothing but at least it appears to work).

After waiting so long for my PS2 I wouldn't entertain selling it but I do think that anyone who is prepared to pay £700+ for a £300 console must be nuts.

I'm probably in for pretty much the same, MarkH - today is my THIRD day off. I originally had two days booked, but had one days holiday left to take, so I decided to take today as well. But, boy, has it been worth it!

In fact, if it weren't so damned obvious, I'd probably take the rest of the week as a sickie! My next holiday isn't until Xmas. :-( Much sadness.

As for flogging my PS2 - no way! I probably would for a price, but I couldn't tell you what that price would be. It would have to be extremely high, though.

I totally agree. I am yet to receive mine, and it is really annoying me seeing all those people cashing in on their PS2. It just goes to show that some of the people who got one at launch WERE following the hype, and didn't really want one.

Annoying for those of us still waiting.

With you on that one, wouldn't part with mine. First day back at work today since getting it, and I'm getting so much stick from colleagues for taking two days off to play games, but who cares!!! It's amazing! SSX is fantastic, but I can't get by Snowdream in Race mode either. I've opened up Elysium Alps in Showoff, but can't get to third in the Final at Snowdream. It would be hugely frustrating if it wasn't such a beautiful game!!!!
