I've raised this issue before - see this thread which covers various Instant Site topics.
FYI - I've created a Search Engine for the Freeola Chat sites.
e.g. If you searched for instant sites backups you would find the thread.

Not one that would be usable, Instant sites uses custom scripts and databases on our server, while some of the site is just standard html, lots of it will only work on our server. Instant sites is backed up by ourselves regularly for disaster recovery, and you can if you want to make backups of individual pages within the instant site designer itself.
The only other thing you could do would be to use some sort of web spider software to create an offline backup, though again this would only back up the content not the code.
