Hands up who thought it was hard.
I'm thinking, going by the number of posts I've read saying that it is, that many of you would have raised your hands to that question if I were asking you in a normal situation.
It was actually a post by Edgy and the number of other people before it which made me post this topic. In a more questionare type topic Edgy put that Wave Race : Blue Storm is Nintendo's worst racer. Probably taste which doesn't tie in ith the main subject here but I know many others struggled with Blue Storm.
And why did they struggle?
Well, if you've played the game then you would of noticed how the controls are very different to many other racers. They are tight, you need good skill on the 3D stick to do well, simply whacking it like a PS2 controller isn't going to get you through the checkpoints you need. The waves and weather condidions don't help either.
It was exactly the comment my friend gave when he gave the game a go..."The controls are rubbish". I then explained how you had to use the shoulder buttons and the stick to good use and with precision. In my view it has made very good use of the pad.
I bought Blue Storm after playing the 64 version, loved it to pieces. Couldn't get enough when I rented it for my 64, told myself to buy it twice but never seemed to in the end. Always another quality title coming out for me to save up for. So you could imagine my delight when I saw Blue Storm on pre-owned.
Thing that worrys me is they get a big black marker pen and write "PO" on the instruction booklet and a "P" on the disc. Apart from that the game played and looked new through and through. It got me thinking maybe they just get a new game, take out the instruction booklet, tear some shreds in it, make a little spill on it or something and then bring in the big marker pen. That would make it more pre-owned like, but instead they wanted it to look new. Nice of them.
So anyway, the big mistake...Wave Race : Blue Storm is actually a easy game and for the more exprienced gamer will take no time to complete. I don't call myself an exprienced gamer, I am pretty crap at mostly every game I play for the first or second time. But with Blue Storm, in 2 hours I had completed the first two championships out of 3. I just hope there are more...
And the way I done this so quickly and not finding the game hard?
Pretty simple really, I used the guy who had good maneuvering, it was at top level and then done it easy. I thought he just looked cool at first...
I actually wanted to see if it was easy or I was just damn good and so played with the other characters and found it damn hard. I couldn't get to the places I wanted as quickly instead of making a lower degree turn then dude would make a very large one instead and so wasting alot of time and making me miss and lose my turbo.
I'm thinking, though I'm probably wrong, that many people just go and choose a different character which makes it hard to turn and on top of that don't use the stick to it's potential and instead slam it.
This could of been a big mistake for Nintendo who are losing customers maybe because of this?
I could be wrong, but even if I am everyone should give the game a go, or another go. It's looking a little short for me at the moment, I just hope there is another championship or something. Fallinf off doesn't annoy me much at all because I never do ;-) really, it's not that bad.
Oh and why do some characters make orgasmic noises whilst using the turbo?
But better than most games.

Heh heh. Boo-ees. What. A. Classic.
Anyway, moving swiftly on....
Wave Race: Blue Storm is in my opinion - despite Edgy's "comment" - one of Nintendo's BEST racers. Granted, I'm finding it difficult, but that's all part of the challenge. If you're crap enough at games to be troubled by the waves and (in my opinion, flawless) controls, then just sell the game, get a different one and quit yer whining.

Thing is though, once you put the turbo on all your controlling goes weird and sometimes you end up going right off course instead.
Also i hate whacking into polls I didn't know was there.
I see what you mean about the different characters and tatics. Like when you get REALLY good you can start using the blue guy who has top speed, large weight etc. tried it with him yesterday and found it extremely hard to turn or do anything.
Is there anything else they give you after the 3rd championship? Or is that it?
